Team News –
ENGW –
– England are now five points behind the table toppers and world champions Australia in the ICC t20 rankings. They have lost only one T20I since the world cup having whitewashed West Indies 5-0 at home, New Zealand 3-0 away and India 2-1 at home.
– England have included some brilliant performer’s from the domestic circuit like Emma Lamb, Charlie Dean and Maia Bouchier in the team for this series.
– Emma Lamb will be available for the 1st t20 only while Maia Bouchier and Charlie Dean will be available from the 2nd t20i.
– Tammy Beaumont and Danni Wyatt will open the innings. Both are very aggressive and technically strong as well. Danni was amongst the top scorers this Hundred.
– Natalie Sciver the star Allrounder will bat at 1 down followed be skipper Heather Knight. Both are the backbone of the English Women’s team.
– Amy Jones will bat next followed by Sophie Dunkley and Katherine Brunt. Amy will keep the Wickets. Dunkley has been assigned the role of finisher and has very good striking ability.
– Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn will lead the spin attack. Heather Knight can assist with 1-2 overs.
– Anya Shrubsole, Katherine Brunt, Nathalie Sciver and Tash Farrant/Freva Davias will lead the pace bowling for England.
NZW –
– New Zealand haven’t been on their best from their exit from the world cup and haven’t won any series from then.
– Team will be very delighted by the return of Skipper Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates into the side. Thr trio of Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine and Amy Satterthwaite will be together after a long time.
– Amelia Kerr has opted out of the tour to take care of her mental health and well-being , which is a big blow to the team.
– Sophie Devine will open along with Hayley Jenson. Devine is back after missing the last series and the Hundred competition. Hayley Jenson looked average with the bat last series and could be demoted as well.
– Suzie Bates will bat at 1 down. Bates need no introduction and is one of the top scorers in t20 cricket and also has scored 400+ runs against the English team.
– Amy Satterthwaite and Katey Martin will bat in middle followed by Maddy Green and Brooke Halliday. Amy will be extremely important in the brittle middle order.
– Leigh Kasperek will have to lead the spin attack in absence of Amelia Kerr.
– Sophie Devine, Lee Tahuhu, Jess Kerr and Hayley Jenson will lead the pace attack. Bowling of Suzie Bates is still a question.
