ENG –
– England won the t20 series 3-0 and also the 1st ODI quote easily and will look to clinch the series with this game itself.
– Dawid Malan left the squad due to some personal reasons and looks like will join in next series only.
– Jason Roy is likely to play the 2nd ODI after missing the 1st due to a hamstring injury. He can replace Moeen Ali and Shift Livingston to middle order.
– Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy will open the innings. Both were in good form this Blast. Bairstow was in a mood last game where he smashed 43 of just 21 balls.
– Joe Root will bat at 1 down. Root is an important part of this setup who scored a brilliant 79 after the team was in trouble last game.
– Morgan will bat at 2 down followed by Sam Billings who will be important in case of another top order failure.
– Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will play the Allrounders role. Moeen bowled very less last game.
– Adil Rashid , Moeen Ali and Liam Livingston will lead the spin attack. Rashid continued his good form in white ball Cricket with 4 Wickets in T20 series.
– Mark Wood/Tom Curran, Sam Curran, David Willey and Chris Woakes will lead the pace attack. Woakes took 4 while Willey 3 last game.
SL –
– Sri Lanka were poor with the bat except the Captain and Hasaranga. Sir Lanka showed some fight with the ball picking 5 English Wickets but target was not enough to defend.
– Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera will be the openers for Lanka. Perera was highest scorer of team again Bangladesh recently and lead from the front scoring 73 last game.
– Charita Asalanka or Oshada Fernando will bat at 1 down. Asalanka played last game and was out on duck. Oshada should play this game due to some experience and also team lacks a proper batsman.
– Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga will bat in middle. Hasaranga has emerged as a very good Allrounder in the last year and half. He was good with the bat last game scoring 54.
– Ramesh Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne and Dhananjaya Lakshan can also bat when needed. All 3 can contribute through bowl as well.
– Wanindu Hasaranga, Praveen Jayawickrama and Ramesh Mendis will be the spin options. Praveen and Ramesh Mendis didn’t bowled much in last game.
– Dushmantha Chameera , B Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne will lead the pace attack. Chameera has been exceptional with the ball recently picking 4 Wickets in last T20 and 3 Wickets in 1st ODI game.
