ENG v SCO | Detailed Pitch Report and Team Guide

ENG XI – J Butler, P salt, W Jacks, J Bairstow, H Brook, M Ali, L Livongstone/S Curran, C Jordan, A Rashid, J Archer, R Topley

SCO XI – G Munsey, O Harris, R Berrington, B Mcmullen, M Cross, M Leask, C Greaves, S Sharrif, M Watt, C Sole. B Currie

Pitch –

– Same ground where Namibia struggled to chase 109. Most of the wickets were taken by pacers. English pacer C/VC here can be a good one sided punt instead of Butler when bowling first

– But Namibia also scored 21 in super over easily, it might get high scoring if Eng bats first, so better go with Butler/Salt Cap if they bat first.

CPL Analysis –

– In CPL, Bridgetown looked mostly high scoring with 220 runs getting chased in just 18 overs. And other games having 180-190 scores.

– So yes, should definitely back English batters as C/VC

– I am focusing more on C/VC because it looks like a C/VC game + Scotland player picks will be important

Must English Players –

J Butler (C – Batting 1st/ VC – Bowling first)

P Salt (Punt C/VC batting first)

W Jacks

– No explanation here. Butler makes for default Captain for his keeping+opening while batting first. Better go for english bowler as Captain if England bowls first

– Salt can give on sided points when bats first, so for 4-5 members league he can be a good punt for Captain

Bairstow (only if bat first)

Moeen (Sure to get some overs, cannot skip)

Sam Curran (If he plays. C/VC)

Adil Rashid

J Archer (C/VC)

C Jordan/Wood (Punt. If he plays)

Topley (Punt C/VC. If he plays)

– Topley will be a common pick as soon as lineups gets announced.

– But many people might skip Jordan, with 21% he can be a good punt since he bowls mostly in death

Scotland Players –

(We need 2/3 Scotland players. This might be match decider in many leagues)

M Leask (Their Prime Allrounder. Will bowl 4ov+Bat middle order)

C Sole (6%. Their main pace attacker. He did good in ODI WC)

M Watt (Left arm spin. Hit or miss kind)

B Currie (4%. Left Arm Pace)

– Sole took a 3fer in Warmup and did good in ODI wc as well. His last 4 Match wkts are 3,3,1,2

– M Watt is a pure hit or miss kind player. He has taken 3-4fer also 0wkts in many matches.

– B Currie. Another good pacer. He hs taken 14W in last 9 Matches.

G Munsey (72%. Can drop when Scotland bat first, archer can get decent swing)

– Munsey is probably their best batter. With T20I average of 30+ and 140+ SR. But most of those runs are against Small teams. When facing Archer/Wood early on he can fumble.

Berrington (46%. Form not supporting him)

– Berrington is proly their most experienced player, and scotland will rely on him majorly. But he had 6 single digit scores in last 10 matches. Can punt on dropping him)

Scotland Player Combination –

– Pick 2 if Scotland bowls first, because we will need Baistow in team.

Leask + One Scotland bowler

– Pick 3 if Scotland Bats First, we can afford playing with 8 Eng players

Leask + one bowler + Munsey

– Can go with 2 Scotland players if they bat first, only if England plays with 6 bowling options other than Liam Livingstone. In that case we might need to take all 6. Those 6 bowling options can be : Topley, Archer, Adil, Jordan, Moeen, Curran/Wood. Drop either Munsey or One Scotland bowler
