Team News –
CSK –
– After starting the IPL on a winning note CSK lost their 2nd game against Rajastan Royals by a margin of 16 runs. Chasing 216 was always a tough job but a blistering knock of 72 by faf and some late hitting by MS made sure that CSK was not left too behind in terms of run rate.
– Bravo is not yet 100% fit according to team coach so he will be still out of the game.
– Shane Watson, Faf Du Plessis, Sam Curran and Lungi Ngidi/Imran Tahir will be their likely 4 foreign players.
– Shane Watson and Murali Vijay will open for CSK. Vijay failed 1st game while started good last game but ended with 21 of 21 balls. Watson played a quickfire 33 of 21 balls . Watson looses his wicket mostly in the powerplay.
– Faf Du Plessis will bat 1 down. Faf showed his class in both the games by a match winning 58* in 1st game and 72 in last game.
– Ruturaj Gaikwad will bat at 2 down. He has scored a lot of runs in domestic circuit but by opening the Innings. He would be a very good option if he opens.
– Kedar Jadhav and MSD will bat at 3 and 4 down respectively. Kedar will contribute through bowl also. MSD demoted himself last game also but ended innings with 3 sixes last over.
– Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will do the late hitting for CSK. Both Curran and Jaddu were promoted over Dhoni last game. Curran was promoted at 2 down last game scoring a quickfire 17 of 6.
– Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla will be the spinners for CSK and will be assisted by unorthodox type Kedar Jadhav. Chawla was very expensive last game and could make way for Tahir .
– Deepak Chahar, Sam Curran and Lungi Ngidi will handle the pace attack. Chahar and Ngidi will bowl in death. Ngidi was very expensive last game but will still keep his place.
DC –
– Delhi won a triller of a contest against KXIP in their last game. A game Which went into the super over and it was then just a matter of time when Ragiso Rabada timbered the 2 KXIP batters and then pant securing the 2 winning runs.
– Ashwin Injured himself in last game and his arm was delocated. He has said he’s good to play but final decision will be on the support staff. Amit Mishra will play if Ashwin misses out.
– Shimron Hetmyer, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Marcus Stoinis should be their 4 foreign players.
– Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw will open the innings for the capitals. Both are very attacking batters and form a very aggressive combo of young and experience. Both were out cheaply on single digit scores last game.
– Captain Shreyas Iyer will bat 1 down. Iyer has been the key to Delhi success last season. He was in excellent form in recent t20 series against New Zealand scoring 150+ runs in 5 games. He batted 2 down the other game it was just to maintain the left right combo.
– Big Hitting Shimron Hetmyer will bat next at 2 down followed by Rishabh Pant. Hetmyer had a decent CPL where he scored 250+ runs but struggled against Spin. Pant is not someone to introduce and will be a integral part of the team.
– Marcus Stoinis has been assisned the role of late hitting along with Pant and Hetmyer. Stoinis smashed the ball everywhere with his knock of 53 of 21 balls last game against Punjab.
– Ravi Ashwin/Amit Mishra and Axar Patel will likely be the lead Spinners. Amit Mishra the veteran can play due to injury scare of Ashwin.
– Kagiso Rabada, Mohit Sharma, Anrich Nortje and Stoinis will lead the pace attack for the capitals.
