Team News –
PBKS –
– The Kings from punjab have lost 3 of their 4 games now and are in a must win situation this game, also their NRR has been affected badly by the loss against SRH last game. Ravi Bishnoi can get a game against MI.
– Teams likely 4 foreign options will be Chris Gayle, Nicolas Pooran, Fabian Allen and Moises Henriques/Chris Jordan
– KL Rahul and Mayank Agrawal will open the innings for PBKS. Both form a formidable opening pair and attacks from the very first ball. Both smashed a 122 run opening partnership in game against DC but were out cheaply last game.
– Christopher Henry Gayle will bat at 1 down. Gayle needs no introduction but averages poor at this venue and also was out cheaply in last game.
– Nicolas Pooran will bat at 2 down. Pooran is a very aggressive batsman and attack from word go. He will not keep the wickets. He has been out on duck 3 times in 4 games.
– Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan will hold the middle order of team. Shahrukh has emerged himself as a finisher in the domestic circuit and has been assigned same role over here. He smashed 47 against CSK and 22 off 17 in last game.
– Teams middle order is quite weak as they don’t have any proper batsman after this pair.
– Ravi Bishnoi/Murugan Ashwin and Fabian Allen will be the spin option along with Deepak Hooda in the team.
– Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan(if plays) will lead the pace attack.
MI –
– Mumbai Indians the 5 time champions have won 2 out of their 4 games this season and this will be their last game at Chepauk. Team will look to end the Chennai leg with a high securing a win against the weak Punjab Kings.
– Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock will open the game. Rohit is going through a golden patch of form and was out on 44 last game but has a very poor record at Chennai with just 110 runs in 7 games.
– Surya Kumar Yadav will bat at 1 down. Surya has been excellent form last 2-3 years scoring consistently 400+ in every season. He is scoring runs in 20s but unable to convert it into a big score.
– Ishan Kishan will bat at 2 down. Ishan was team highest scorer last season and also got a chance in the national team where he scored a 50 on debut. He haven’t performed according to his standards yet this season.
– Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya followed by Big Kieron Pollard will be the Allrounders for MI. Hardik haven’t bowled in this IPL yet.
– Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav and Krunal Pandya will lead the spin attack. Chahar has been excellent in 1st 4 games where he has picked 8 Wickets.
– Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Adam Milne/Nathan Coulter Nile will lead the pace bowling. Pollard will assist them.
